Anglosol 12 Solvent Adhesive for Acrylic Bonding

Anglosol 12 is a high-quality, single-component solvent-based adhesive specially formulated for bonding cast acrylic sheets in interior applications. This versatile adhesive consists of acrylic polymer and methyl methacrylate monomer dissolved in solvents, ensuring strong and durable bonds. It is ideal for general fabrication work where high bond strength is not critical. Anglosol 12 hardens as the solvent evaporates, depositing polymer in the joint and creating a fused, durable bond.

Key Features:

  • Material Compatibility: Suitable for bonding cast acrylic (Perspex), as well as items made from 'Diakon' acrylic polymers.
  • Solvent-Based: Contains methyl methacrylate monomer and acrylic polymer for effective bonding.
  • Fusing Action: Softens surfaces for strong joint formation.
  • Interior Use: Designed for indoor applications; not recommended for outdoor or structural applications.
  • Fast Bonding Time: Initial set within 3 hours, full cure within 48 hours, with maximum bond strength achieved in 1 to 3 weeks.
  • Cold Curing Option: Bonds can be post-cured at 80°C for 8 hours to achieve maximum strength faster.

Properties:

  • Bond Strength: Typical bond strength ranges from 20-35 MPa depending on curing method.
  • Viscosity: 600 mPa.s approx.
  • Specific Gravity: 1.2 approx.
  • Shelf Life: 12 months when stored between 5-25°C in unopened containers.
  • Coverage: 10 m²/L.

Important Considerations:

  • Limited to Interior Use: Not recommended for outdoor applications or laminating acrylic sheets.
  • Gap Filling: Anglosol 12 has limited gap-filling capabilities; ensure parts are closely fitted.
  • Pigment Migration: Solvent may cause colorants to migrate; test a small joint if color is crucial.

Safety Information:

Before use, carefully study the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) to ensure proper handling and safety precautions.
